Business Portraits Need Space – Not Just Light

Today, we had the team from Ziel17 in front of the camera – a hotel consulting agency with a professional appearance and a serious client base. On their website, the team comes across as relaxed, approachable, and with a great sense of humor – values that clearly matter deeply to them. This time, they came to us with the wish to create new portraits that show both: personality and professionalism.

A great business portrait doesn’t start with the click of the camera, but with the space in which it’s created. A space that is more than just a backdrop: stress-free, open, and welcoming. Especially when it comes to portraits meant to convey professionalism, it’s essential that the people in front of the lens don’t have to perform – but are simply allowed to be themselves.

Many still associate business photos with stiff poses and the fear of not looking “right.” But in truth, the opposite is what works: a good photo happens when the pressure is gone. When there’s no need to perform, just permission to be. That’s why, for us, every shoot is a collaboration – not a checklist of poses, but a shared moment of discovery. A chance to find out how you feel most at ease and what you truly want to express.

Because when someone feels safe, they radiate that. And that’s what you see in the images. Whether with or without a smile, in formal attire or a more relaxed style – what matters most is that it’s your expression. Not staged, but honest and authentic. And it’s exactly that authenticity that conveys competence – without the rigid business façade.

That’s why our standard is this: no stiff atmosphere, no forced posing. Instead, a space where you feel seen and understood. Because that’s where portraits are created that work – and stay with you.
