Musikverein Vienna – New website for a world-class concert hall

The Vienna Musikverein is one of the world's leading concert halls. With over 800 events annually and its internationally renowned Golden Hall, it attracts music lovers from all over the world. To reflect this cultural significance in the digital space, the Musikverein has comprehensively redesigned its website. The new platform not only provides information but also conveys the uniqueness and high quality of the venue.



The old website: functional, but lacking a clear brand impact

The previous website served its purpose: events could be booked and information accessed. However, it lacked a visual language that reflected the venue's identity and reputation. The functional design seemed too generic for a concert hall with over 200 years of history.

The relaunch is more than just a technical update. The goal is to position the Vienna Musikverein online with the same precision as it is known in the international concert world. The focus was on the following aspects:

  • Structure and orientation: Despite extensive information, navigation remains clear and intuitive.
  • Clear branding: Colours, typography, and imagery strengthen the venue's visual identity.
  • Visual content takes centre stage: Images and videos showcase the architecture and concert events as central design elements.
  • Attention to detail: Finely crafted design elements underscore the commitment to quality and excellence.

Design Decisions in Detail

A central design element of the new website is the consistent use of the colour blue, which exudes calm and elegance. Large-format images and videos dominate the header areas, conveying an immediate impression of the concert spaces and events.

The content is clearly structured: Season programs are separated from permanent information, such as the history of the Vienna Musikverein or hall overviews. This clear separation facilitates orientation and appeals to different target groups – from regular subscribers to international first-time visitors.

With the relaunch, the website not only modernises its appearance but also strengthens the brand of the Vienna Musikverein and the Society of Friends of Music. The content is more easily accessible, the design underscores the venue's extraordinary significance, and visual storytelling makes the concert experience tangible online.

This step combines tradition with the digital present, ensuring that the Vienna Musikverein remains as present in the digital space as it has been in the music world for 200 years.
